As Director of SPURS and Cross Roads,
Randy has found a home that combines his passion for sports with his
calling to minister to the youth of Georgetown. He graduated from
Texas A&M with a degree in Accounting and Finance and obtained a
Master's degree in Marketing and a M.B.A from the University of
Texas at Dallas. A born and raised Texan, he and his wife Julie
relocated from Dallas to Austin in 1999 where they were led by the
Lord to join Great Hills Baptist Church and subsequently into the
Awana ministry. They made a life changing decision to move their
growing family to a small farm in Georgetown in 2003 and transferred
their church membership to First Baptist Georgetown where they both
accepted roles in children's ministry. Today, Coach Randy (as he
is affectionately known by youth throughout the community) serves on
the Board of Directors as the 6U Commissioner for Georgetown Youth
Baseball Association, coaches Upward Basketball and N.F.L. Flag
Football, and is a shepherd in the FBCGT Pathway program for 1st-5th
grade. He and Julie are the proud parents of two girls who love
gymnastics and a son who insists he will one day play Major League
Baseball for the Chicago Cubs. He feels blessed to have been called
to continue this incredible ministry.
A native of Virginia, Monica and her husband Tim have lived in Georgetown since 1994 and have two sons.
Having been born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, John majored in Public Relations at the University of Texas and on March 27, 1977 accepted Christ to be his personal Savior. He then served on staff with the Navigators for seven years in which he spent 2 years at the Air Force Academy and 4 years in New Zealand working with college students. Afterwards, John obtained his Masters Degree in Biblical Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.
The Hargrove family moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1992 and in the fall of 1993 founded Georgetown Youth Ministries. In the summer of 2003 the Lord led John to found Oakridge Ministries as the umbrella organization over both the youth ministry and the Oakridge Retreat Center. In the Spring of 2008 John officially handed the Executive Director position off to Randy Adair as John began to lay a foundation for a new ministry reproducing this outreach/discipleship format in Belize. Spring 2010 begins an exciting new season for the ministry as we are blessed to have Randy Floyd at the helm.
In the fall of 1993, Georgetown Youth Ministries was founded with an after school program designed for 6th graders called SPURS, as well as a college ministry called "Cross Training" for Southwestern University students on campus here in Georgetown. The "Cross Roads" program was instigated the following fall for 7th and 8th graders. All three programs included healthy doses of fun and fellowship but also emphasized Biblical teaching and training through guest speakers and small group discussions. Throughout the many years of ministry in the Georgetown schools the Lord continues to bless. Hundreds of youth have become Christians and many others have deepened their walk with Christ.
In the summer of 2003 John Hargrove founded the Oakridge Retreat Center, a beautiful 26 acre property outside of Florence, Texas just north west of Georgetown. The Lord clearly showed John how the impact of the ministry could multiply with the addition of a retreat center. This facility provides the perfect environment for the leaders and students to bond and interact in new ways - all the while becoming more focused on Christ. In addition, the center has become a wonderful place for leadership training and summer camps. In 2005 our board of directors merged both Georgetown Youth Ministries and the Retreat Center under Oakridge Ministries.
