Oakridge is a non-denominational, non-profit Christian ministry located in Georgetown, Texas and is the umbrella organization under which three dynamic ministries operate!
The first is a ministry which specifically reaches out to youth in the Georgetown area through after school meetings. The program called "SPURS" is designed for 6th graders and "Cross Roads" is for 7th and 8th graders. The students gather every other week at the three local middle schools for snacks, games, exciting talks and small group discussions. Oakridge staff and guest speakers provide dynamic messages on scriptural principles and then trained student leaders guide the discussions afterwards. Just recently a new program has been initiated at the Ninth Grade Center allowing students the opportunity to train to become a SPURS leader. We invite you to learn more about the upcoming schedule of events and join us!
The second aspect of Oakridge developed as the youth ministry grew. John Hargrove, the founder, sensed the need for a retreat center especially designed to foster relationships between the students and their leaders. He envisioned a relaxed environment where they could bond together through fun activities as well as grow closer to the Lord through discipleship training. Soon thereafter, the Lord provided 26 beautiful acres 20 miles north west of Georgetown. Over the years the property has continued to develop and can now accommodate roughly 40 overnight guests in three charming facilities.
Throughout the year this wonderful property (with incredible views!) is used for SPURS and Cross Roads retreats, summer camps and training sessions. But now it is also available for other Christian organizations/families to enjoy and we invite you to take a minute to learn more about how the Lord might use it to provide revitalization and refreshment!
In the Spring of 2008 a third dimension to the ministry was added - "Mission Belize". John Hargrove is laying the foundation to reproduce the SPURS ministry internationally and has acquired property in Belize in order to introduce the ministry locally in Puenta Gorda as well as provide a base camp for visiting Christian mission groups.
